Why, oh why, is it so difficult for some to draw attention to their heads/faces by framing it in a gorgeous hat or fascinator? Why are some reduced to adolescent sarcasm when faced with the 'chapeau challenge'?!

You aren't important enough to speak for all of us.) Please, Barbara, get over yourself. Its just a hat. You should be able to control it (think sophistication), not let it control you.
