First runner-up, Miss Kansas, Caitlin Taylor!

June 12, 2011

I had the pleasure of traveling to Foggy Bottom Boutique in Wichita, Kansas twice during the winter of 2010 for trunk shows and made some dear friendships that mean a great deal to me. The owner of FBB, Beth George, has been so supportive during Breeziway's growth, and I am proud to be of some support to the lovely and talented young women who staff her boutique during their pageant endeavors. One of them, Cat Taylor, has just won the title of first runner-up in the Miss Kansas (Miss America) pageant. I am so excited about her accomplishment. . . Next year will be the year for nationals, Cat! I feel it!

Caitlin earned the title of Miss Rosehill 2011 to enter the Miss Kansas pageant. She lives her platform of Severe Weather Awareness, as a tornado chaser and advanced meteorology student at the University of Oklahoma. She won both the swimsuit and talent prelim competitions in this current pageant. Way to go, Cat!

Miss Wooded Hills 2011, Carissa Kelley, won the title of Miss Kansas 2011 and will represent the state in the upcoming Miss America pageant. Congratulations & best wishes, Carissa!

Cat & Shirl are off to Miss Earth National Pageant! . . .

July 28, 2010

Miss Earth Kansas will be wearing a Breeziway design during the national pageant to be held soon in Nevada. Our special friend, the lovely, talented and bright Cat will be wearing a Tony Bowls gown in silver, gray & lavender. To top off this gorgeous gown we have made her a custom Shirl; a swirl of nagorie and schlappen feathers dyed lavender & silver gray with crin brim and Swarovski accent. Cat will wear this ensemble as she plays flute for the talent portion of the pageant. The winner of nationals will represent the US in the International Pageant (see footage of 2009 International Pageant below).

We are so proud of you Caitlin. . . wishing you the very best!!

Passion Red Collection - #2

January 20, 2010

As mentioned previously. . . it was a delight to make new friends in Wichita, Kansas the first week of January; the owner of Foggy Bottom Boutique, her family, staff, and friends. We are excited about our new collaboration, which will be initiated with a big show event later this winter. Foggy Bottom is a designated Top 10 Prom boutique, carrying a wide array of gorgeous gowns from designers such as Jovani, Tony Bowls Paris, La Femme, Night Moves by Allure, Allyce Designs, Sherri Hill, Riva Designs, Faviana and Mori Lee.

Foggy Bottom is holding a special 'Red Event' in honor of Valentine's Day. Breeziway has made several designs for gowns to be featured in this event. This entry is the first of three to preview some of these designs.

All gown photos are from the Top 10 Prom site; a marvelous place to explore! The Breeziway photos were taken quickly and before final touches, but provide the basics of each design.

RED
& CRYSTAL

The Breeziway design below is a red version of a headpiece and gown accent that I made for myself to wear to a benefit event last fall. Miss Oklahoma, Caitlin Taylor, really like this piece when she saw it during my recent trunk show visit in Wichita. She (a future meteorologist) thought the design looked like a hurricane and suggested we name it Katrina. So, introducing the Katrina! . . .made of curled coquile, schlappen and coque feathers with a halo spray made of stripped hackles. Swarovski crystals accent the center of this piece.

Our complementary gown accents (such as the one below) can be placed anywhere on your gown or clutch purse with either a pin backing or earth magnets that leave delicate fine fabrics undamaged.

RED & CRYSTAL

This design is a red version of our Bridgit, customized with a pave' set Swarovski crystal accent at its base. This design is made of biot feathers that can be bent and tied as you like to create different looks.

Last, but not least, in this set of red is a customized version of our Cady made in red, black and ivory as inspired by the multi-color gowns above. This Cady is made of dyed and bleached schlappen feathers with stripped coque. Inspired by the Dragonfly - a theme throughout the Foggy Bottom Ladies Boutique - this piece is accented at the base with a Dragonfly made of clear red and AB red Swarovski crystals.

One more set of red designs to share later this week. . . They are now on their way to Wichita for the Red Event!

Hoping your own 'red event' is shaping up nicely.
Let us know if we can help liven your look.

The Caitlin Story. . .

November 5, 2009

Earlier this year we had the pleasure of helping Miss Norman - Oklahoma complete her evening gown ensemble for the Miss Oklahoma pageant. Caitlin shared a photo of her gown, and we began our collaboration. The bodice of her gown was covered in stylist feathers. By appearance, it was clear that hackle or schalappen feathers were used in the making of her gown. So, the Caitlin design made of hackle, schlappen, and stripped coque feathers was born.

I like how the funnel shape created by this design mimics a tornado. How appropriate is that for a student (University of Oklahoma) who will someday find success in her career as a broadcast meterologist?! Cat's gown was provided by one of her sponsors, Foggy Bottom Ladies Boutique in Wichita, Kansas. Drop by their site to explore some unique and amazing gowns from a range of designers. . . more on this boutique later!

A shot of the original Caitlin is below (set pins and all) . . . and one of Caitlin wearing this design for the competition in the pageant header below. The shot is small and the piece is difficult to see, but trust me .. . its there. This design is available in white, ivory, black or can be custom dyed to match your gown.

AND as you can see, Caitlin won the title of Miss Oklahoma 2009! Gorgeous, isn't she?

Congratulations Caitlin and best wishes for many more sweet victories in the years ahead. Thank you for letting us share some of the fun.

Best,
