Danica's Custom Carolina - Passionate Red & Burgundy

Life has been busy, busy, busy. . . I am sorry to have neglected my sharing and figured it was time to get an entry ready.

It has been a pleasure to work with Danica as she prepares for her mid-June wedding in Connecticut. This has been no easy feat for her as she and her honey have been in Saudia Arabia - where they met in 2008. Their engagement began in 2010 on a beach in Sri Lanka. No moss grows on this pair, so it is no surprise that their wedding will be a zesty expression of their love of life and adventure.

Danica and Matt will hold a garden wedding at his family's summer cottage on the Atlantic in Niantic, Connecticut. Danica will wear the sassy tea-length gown below to be accented with red and burgundy. Her shoes and jewelry will be topped-off with a custom design in red and burgundy, inspired by the Carolina, paired with a crystal accented birdcage veil. The happy couple have asked their guests to wear a dash of red (or more) to keep the passionate theme in full- force.

The following photos of Danica's headpiece were sent to her today for feedback. We will then make any adjustments and finish the design to have it shipped to her in time for her stylist appointment.

It will be a day of love and fun for this happy couple, their family & friends! We wish them the very best on their wedding day & a lifetime of adventure.

Hair Styles from Runway to Aisle. . .

The hairstyles below were compiled by Brides.com from photographs taken on the runways of the Spring 2011 Bridal Market Fashion Shows. Chignons from structured ballerina to tousled are popular choices for remaining cool during the hot summer months. The classic French twist was also among the styles seen. My favorites are shared below with some Breeziway designs I would love to see nestled up against them!

Our hand-pressed, silk velvet and organdy flower Tress (with or without a birdcage veil) would be a lovely choice in place of the over sized gardenia in the photograph. You can click on any of the photos to view the designs in our online shop.

The shantung silk flowers of Emma would be a pretty addition along the fold side of this French twist.

Modern Trousseau

I love the tight braiding that forms a corona in this style, but think the Ingrid would be a beautiful and softening addition placed along one side of the rear chignon.

I suggest removing the crystal bow and replacing with the crystal-accented Cady along the side of this symmetrical chignon.

Rivini

The sleek pinned-back, long length look of this style would gain some balance our Opal on one side with the double birdcage veil to add some dimension in the horizontal plane.

I would love to see our handmade Duchess-silk satin gardenia with tulle on the side of this textured chignon. It would soften the appearance of the sleeked-back front and sides.

Petals Events Photoshoot

I have spent this marvelous Friday evening in the studio working on delicious designs for a photoshoot to take place at the end of this month in Florida. Shauna Leigh Gill, owner and event planner of Petals Events, contacted me in December to ask us to participate in their first quarter photoshoot. Whether you live in Florida or not, please, do take the time to explore Shauna's website and blog. It is a visual feast; full of delightful ideas for weddings and other events!

The inspiration board created by Shauna for the photoshoot is below. I have redesigned the Carolina to bring out the sunflower color in the wedding theme, and our Zoe has been redesigned to include accents of turquoise and sailor.

Thor Photography, The Pastry Studio, Rachel Kacie Designs, Clay Gallery, Chocolate Butterbean are also participating in the shoot.

The bride and groom models will be Jessie Carnes and Micah Brown, pictured below:

And last, but not least, the location of the shoot is The Herlong Mansion in Micanopy, Florida. Ladies, look at this location. It is a dream! I so want to be able to escape the gray, cold days of Michigan to be able to enjoy the wonders of Florida but, alas, responsibilities beckon. The ingredients of this shoot are spectacular, and I am really looking forward to seeing the fruits of Shauna's enthusiastic planning and the talents of all involved coalesce into something truly beautiful. . . I promise to share.
