Full Frontal Fashion's "Girl on the Run" - Chapter 1

The sensational new style site, Full Frontal Fashion, has released a series of fascinating videos focused on the Winter, 2011 season. This first chapter shares the frenetic & depressing underbelly of the major shows in Paris. The question is raised, "Is fashion falling apart?". It seems the once-upon-a-time apex of the Fashion world, Paris, is falling indeed. I don't understand the sagging crotch trousers worn by their hostess, Mademoiselle Agnes. They are so unattractive to my eye. . . and the comment, "I kiss your mouth, your neck, and your ass." What?! This is an interesting video; bad, bed hair & crassness taken to a classless extreme. . .

Oh my, let's get a grip!

This is an interesting number by Jean-Paul Gaultier, inspired by 1930's lingerie. LOVE the velvet turban.

Blake Lively in Fascinator at Dior

I absolutely LOVE to see more women re/discovering the fun of fascinators as an accessory choice! Red Carpet Fashion Awards has shared photos of Blake Lively (Gossip Girl actress) sitting in the front row next to Vogue's Anna Wintour at Dior's Fall 2010 Couture Show (June 6, 2010 - Paris). 'Californina-girl', Blake is wearing a beautiful Dior dress and small white fascinator. Several reader comments on Red Carpet are quite favorable; with one commenting on the amateurish appearance of the headpiece. I wish one of the photos provided a better look at her fascinator. I am a bit intrigued by what appears to be the ends of two white peacock feathers with side herl at the top of the piece. It is difficult to imagine how the cut ends of these feathers could be appropriately finished. Would I have loved to design a cute, whimsical, feminine pieces for this Dior dress? You bet!!

The September Issue- Anna Wintour

I have been enjoying "The September Issue" documentary about Anna Wintour's editorial prowress in preparation of the annual trend-setting September issue of Vogue (2008); a birthday present from one of my daughters! This trailer of the video focuses on Anna's definitive decisions, while neglecting the warmth and dry humor of this fashion icon (ala' "The Devil Wears Prada"). She knows what she likes and doesn't like; this is the responsibility of her position! . . . and she rolls with the punches with reserve and grace. I particularly liked the following discussion of her editorial board in the trailer: "What are we to do with feathers this Fall?" . . . "We're supposed to wear them!" I liked the sound of that indeed. . .
