Vogue - May, 2010

April 20, 2010

Top Hat with dramatic veiling by House of Dior - Vogue, May, 2010

The new (May, 2010) issue of Vogue features Sarah Jessica Parker on its cover and within. A video feature of her photo shoot for this issue (below) shows Sarah in a full-helmet double birdcage veil with small cocktail hat by Suzanne Couture Millinery. We have made similar styles for couture clients here and abroad. I love the the dramatic appearance of this style choice. Sarah also appears in a broad brim, wide-banded fedora by Rochas Hats complementing a Vera Wang dress. . . . so, 40's and 50's. . . I love the look of both!

The September Issue- Anna Wintour

April 18, 2010

I have been enjoying "The September Issue" documentary about Anna Wintour's editorial prowress in preparation of the annual trend-setting September issue of Vogue (2008); a birthday present from one of my daughters! This trailer of the video focuses on Anna's definitive decisions, while neglecting the warmth and dry humor of this fashion icon (ala' "The Devil Wears Prada"). She knows what she likes and doesn't like; this is the responsibility of her position! . . . and she rolls with the punches with reserve and grace. I particularly liked the following discussion of her editorial board in the trailer: "What are we to do with feathers this Fall?" . . . "We're supposed to wear them!" I liked the sound of that indeed. . .

CBS News, May 17, 2009 - A seemingly-more balanced portrayal of Anna. . .

Anna Wintour's candor and standards are refreshing to me. . .

If you look at any great fashion photograph out of context,
it will tell you just as much about what's going on in the world
as a headline in The New York Times.
~ Anna Wintour

How I would love having the resources
to be able to strive toward such a product!
