Melanie's Custom Bridal Design. . .

July 20, 2010

Melanie of Long Island, New York will be marrying her love soon wearing the Mercadal design - 2010 Pronovias Couture Gown Collection - Barcelona. Melanie originally wanted a bridal hat with veiling to complement this gorgeous gown, but after some productive brainstorming she chose a somewhat less structured design with an element of "fun" reflected in a colorful spray of peacock feathers and swords.

The silk satin and organza cluster of flowers on Melanie's headpiece is made from the same design that embellishes the lower hip on the left side of the gown. It has been accented with Swarovski crystals and pearls to bring out the accents embedded deep within the flowers. India Blue and Natural White peacock eye and sword feathers add a splash of color, and white hackles form a spray at the base of this feather complement. Melanie will be wearing a Breeziway open-sweep birdcage veil made of fine French silk veiling with a dramatically-large diamond pattern. The veiling is detachable, so she will have the option of wearing the headpiece alone during the reception.

We wish Melanie and her man the wedding and marriage of their dreams
and look forward to seeing photos of her ensemble with excited anticipation.

We know that she will be a stunning & happy bride!

We were happy to be able to create Allison's vision for her bridal headpiece and veil. Using our Natasha as a basis for the design, more India blue peacock eyes were added along with ivory accents to complement her ivory English birdcage veil and gown. Pretty. . .

Peacock feathers have been popular this season.

We have gorgeous feathers from 8 different breeds of peacocks;

Erica's Peacock Pageant Piece. . .

July 4, 2010

The holiday has given me time to photograph some of the designs that will be shipped tomorrow to clients. So, why not share some of these with you?

Erica, Miss Kansas - 2010, will be wearing the gorgeous gown shown below from the Riva 2010 collection for the upcoming national pageant. We have helped to top off this beautiful statement in royal blue and teal with a Breeziway headpiece made of peacock eye/sword, coquile, ostrich, and schlappen feathers.

I wish the photographs were good enough to spotlight the
vibrant colors of the peacock eyes.

Wishing Erica the very best in the upcoming pageant!

Peacock Heaven or Hell? . . .

April 2, 2010

Peacocks running amock? Oh no!

I found this report about peacock behavior in the Los Angeles county town of La Canada Flintridge humorous. . . Some residents love the beauty of peafowl and their natural control of snails and rattlesnakes. Others are offended by their smell and chatty demeanor. It just depends on the spin, it seems.

Apparently, peacocks do not take well to water and animals. Need peacock control? Looks like sprinklers and pets will do the trick.

No one, however, can deny their beauty. I wonder if Kelly Phelan would like to sell any of her feather collection.

Enjoying the early days of spring on this end and hoping that you are too.

Prom Planning - Part 3 (Peacock Pretty)

February 23, 2010

Peacock feathers are a favorite at Breeziway. In honor of our show at Foggy Bottom in Wichita, we are introducing a new linear design that features the diversity of peacock breeds now available in the states. The first in this collection is made of India Blue Peacock feathers; the most common, but ever vibrant breed of peafowl. This piece is made of several small eye feathers and one sword feather at the top, with a rare sword, eye combo feather as a tail. Royal blue schlappen, marabou and a Swarovski crystal accent are added for extra color and bling. This is a versatile piece that can be worn with or without a birdcage veil, placed along side a bun or twist, or even as a funky accent with a side or back ponytail. Several of many prom/special occasion gowns in this year's designer collection that we think would look fantastic with this design are below. For some reason, I am drawn to the simple elegance created by the peacock feathers with the solid colors of the majority of the chosen gowns. We will share some of the other peacock color options in future posts.

There is some truth to the 14th century phrase attributed to Chaucer,

"Proud as a Peacock"!
