Passion Red Collection - #1

January 17, 2010

It was a delight to make new friends in Wichita, Kansas the first week of January; the owner of Foggy Bottom Boutique, her family, staff, and friends. We are excited about our new collaboration, which will be initiated with a big show event later this winter. Foggy Bottom is a designated Top 10 Prom boutique, carrying a wide array of gorgeous gowns from designers such as Jovani, Tony Bowls Paris, La Femme, Night Moves by Allure, Allyce Designs, Sherri Hill, Riva Designs, Faviana and Mori Lee.

Foggy Bottom is holding a special 'Red Event' in honor of Valentine's Day. Breeziway has made several designs for gowns to be featured in this event. This entry is the first of three to preview some of these designs.

All gown photos are from the Top 10 Prom site; a marvelous place to explore! The Breeziway photos were taken quickly and before final touches, but provide the basics of each design.

RED, GREEN, PURPLE & WHITE

Gown by Tony Bowls
Gown by Riva (center)
Gown by Alyce
Gown by Faviana

The subtle to vibrant color combination of the 4 gowns above were the inspiration for a customization of our Mikaili design. This piece is made of fine silk chiffon in red, green, and purple with metallic silver highlights. Rare natural white peacock feather eyes and a sword and a Swarovski accent made of clear and AB crystals make this design a knock-out. The photos just don't do this piece justice!

RED & CRYSTAL

Gown by Jovani
Gown by Sherri Hill

These red and crystal gowns by Jovani and Sherri Hill were inspiration for the Breeziway design below. Red crin/horsehair fashioned into a flower and bow were accented with red coquile feathers and clear Swarovski crystals. A silver bouillon and crystal trim at the base of this design adds to its sparkle.

RED, BLACK & RED POLKA DOTS

The perky red, black and polka dot gowns above by Sherri Hill were an inspiration for a red version of our popular Zabrina. What fun.

BURGUNDY, GARNET & WHITE

Gown by Alyce
Gown by Alyce
Gown by Tony Bowls Paris

The three gowns above by Tony Bowls and Alyce served as inspiration for the Breeziway design below. This piece is made of a 3" burgundy red silk rose, a rose pearl and garnet Swarovski crystal motif, and white schlappen feathers mounted on a straw base.

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of our preparation for prom season. Please, do drop by to see more of the fruits of our affiliation with the Foggy Bottom Ladies Boutique. If you live near Wichita, Kansas - the mid-continent home of the airline industry and Kirstie Alley, drop by the boutique on Douglas Street to try our designs. Let us know what you think!

Getting ready for a special Valentine's Day event? prom? wedding bridesmaids and love RED? Come back throughout the week for more ideas to consider.

Here's to following our passions. . . .

If you are a bride-to-be, you will find the Dream Wedding and Event Planners blog by Kathy Byrum a fun and informative resource to explore! . . and if you live in Southeast Michigan, she just might be your wedding planner of choice.

"Dream Wedding and Event Planners was hired to plan and coordinate a large outdoor tented wedding on July 25, 2009. The Bride and Groom live in New York, had their New York wedding and reception earlier, then flew to Michigan for their Michigan Reception. The day before their event, they took her couture bridal gown to a cleaners for a light cleaning. When they picked it up, they learned the cleaners has completely ruined her gown. It looked like it had been thrown in a washing machine, ironed by hand with a flat iron and scorched. The bride and her sister called me in a panic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with the Reception occurring the next day. I sent them to Katerina Bocci, a couture bridal gown designer located in Shelby Township, Michigan. She immediately canceled all of her appointments that evening, called in her two designers, and completely remade the exact gown by 2:00 a.m. with some differences because of designer patents. When the bride came to her shop the next morning, Katerina had soft music, a glass of wine and a masseuse there to relax her before the pre-reception pictures were to begin at 3:00 p.m. Katerina Bocci goes above and beyond excellence for her brides. Katerina told me, "I simply cannot have a bride in tears"."

Party outfit uplift!

October 25, 2009

The current economic situation makes outfitting oneself for a party a challenge. If your budget doesn't support the purchase of a new dress or fancy pants, consider adding new accessories to a favorite already in your closet! My daughters and I wore new small headpieces and purse/gown accents to a benefit party enjoyed this past Friday. I want to share this idea with you.

Jai wore a short party dress with a ruched bodice in fuschia and skirt of black, boxy sequins. She wore the accents in the first several photos to step-up the 'pop'. The peacock feathers used in Jai's designs are from the rare 'purple' peacock. Swarovski crystal accents in her pieces matched the post earrings she wore.

I wore a long black satin shirt and black top with a scoop neckline framed with bold ruffles. The black feather headpiece was perfect for holding back the hair on one side of my style. The accent piece shown with my satin clutch below, was a perfect accent on my top. The Swarovski crystal accents in the black pieces coordinated with one element of the chunky and dramatic necklace worn. If our local social magazine shares photos taken at Friday night's benefit, I will add to this entry for a better look in context.

Our garment accents are held in place using pins or powerful magnets (for use with very fine, sheers fabrics that don't take well to pin holes). Breeziway created 25 feather and crystal accents for the tulle ruffle skirting of one of our summer brides. I am so eager to see and share photos of her gown and matching headpiece.

Difficult times, make getting out to enjoy others in the celebration of life ever more important. Let us know if we can help you feel brand new in a tried and true ensemble.

Wishing us all festive moments ahead,
