Miuccia Prada designs celebrate the natural beauty of cock & peacock feathers. . .

November 27, 2009

Prada's exciting Milan RTW show for Spring, 2005 was a colorful eclectic blend of materials, including feathers. A few of my favorite designs from this show are below. Brilliantly-dyed coque and schlapen feathers sweeped around chloes, pheasant feathers create shingles on other chloes, next are the peacock body feather and herl adorned chloes, and finally, peacock body and eye feather skirts. So much creativity in this collection!

I would love to see our Meadow and Marnie (below) paired with the Prada peacock skirt and blouses of different contrasting colors.

Hoping that each of you state-side enjoyed a relaxing
Thanksgiving Day
with family and friends. Here's to a deliciously-spent holiday weekend!

Mischa Barton in Ring-neck Pheasant

November 26, 2009

As a native Londoner (later, a naturalized American), it is no surprise that Mischa Barton would feel as free-as-a-bird wearing her jaunty chloe cap covered in feathers from the ring-neck pheasant. The photos of Mischa taken while playing with friends in Primrose Hill, London this past spring were provided by http://www.hollywoodrag.com/.

There are 35 species of pheasants, with each bird creating a complex array of feather colors and patterns (10+). They are gorgeous birds, and this past summer was spent in part learning more about the unique and broad array of feathers worn by various species of pheasant. We have processed many pelts of beautiful materials for future designs.

The ring-neck pheasant shown below is the species whose feathers were used to create the hat worn by Mischa and the stunningly-shaped chloe shown below.

I look forward to wearing my own pheasant feather hat this winter and hope you will each find a way of keeping toasty-warm in the months ahead.

Best,

Anne & Sam's Seattle Wedding

November 23, 2009

Anne was one of Breeziway's early brides. We made her a customized Zabrina in a merlot with the spots of its guinea feathers embellished with garnet Swarovski crystals to match her crystal embellished shoes.

Anne and Sam were married in September, 2008 at the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame in Seattle, Washington. If you live in that area, you must consider using Laurence Kim Photography. They do amazing work! You can view more of Anne and Sam's creative wedding at the blog of their photographer.

Wishing you all many mellow merlot moments.

Heather & Britney's Fedoras

November 21, 2009

Beautiful hairstyles dot com is a great site to explore for ideas. I spotted these photos of Heather Matarazzo and Britney Spears wearing black fedoras there. Hmmmmmm. . . seems their toppers could use a Breeziway touch, like our Czech Fedora with a shocking pink paper flower, black hackles and Russian veiling! Why not make a bolder fashion statement?

Wishing you many moments of bountiful boldness,

Mindy's Coral & Ivory Bridal Headpiece

November 20, 2009

Mindy from the windy city will be marrying in Florida this upcoming March. She liked the Emma, but wanted a design using ivory and coral. Her custom design uses the shantung silk ivory flowers with pearl stamens with ivory and coral curled biot and coquile feathers. Mindy chose the 12" birdcage veiling made of fine French silk. Here are her feedback photos.

Hoping it is sunnier on your end than here!
